One question that has been asked of me many times was how I came into possession of the diary, and the answer is surprising to many of those who receive it. It happened when I was seven and visiting relatives in the country. I had left the house that they lived in to explore the expansive grounds, it didn't take me long to find a "secret passage" into the old castle, which had been abandoned many years before I was born.
